The first female recipient of the MOONSHIN Fine Art Award, Kim Jung Hye’s works are notable for their exclusion of fine detail and use of the characteristic softness and beauty of color and line to express the posture and movement of the human body. In particular, she is known for her ability to project the fundamental flow of traditional aesthetic forms and sculpture into her works. Famously, Kim painstakingly sands her pieces over and over again — 300 times for marble and 1,000 times for bronze — in order to create a unique sense of volume.
