Rosario Aninat’s Drop of Lead series transforms fragments of layered sketches by architect Kim Chung-up. Originally produced in 2023, the work’s present iteration interacts with the structure of Seongsan Art Hall building to create a new space. Architectural blueprints are reconstructed into four sculptures, merging and dividing into a completely new and different form.
Aninat’s intentional transformation here transcends the usual physical constraints dictated by architectural methodology, introducing slippage into the gap between realistic and abstract. By viewing the object from the limited perspective Aninat presents, the massive spatial structure takes on a more intimate form.
