Yonggi Lake Park
Yonggi Lake Park is an exemplary environmentaly-friendly park in Changwon. In 2006 it was named as one of the country’s top 5 urban parks. At the center of the park is a still lake whose water originated from the flowing Nakdong River and has recently become the center of local media attention. A variety of amenities at the park are available for use including: the waterfront promenade and lawn, Changwondae Broadway Theatre, New Nam Pojeongsa Gyeongnam Anti-Japanese Movement Monument, and Bongrimsa Third Pagoda. Strolling the lawn and walkways one can see the sculptures of the 17 points of The Changwon Sculpture Biennale of 2016. Yongji Lake is the charm of Yongji Park and it shines even at night. Every evening the setting sun dyes the lake, creating a splendid harmony between the sky and water. Changwon citizens understand why the media has been plugging Lake Park as one of Changwon’s best scenes. In the summer, the cool music fountain offers relief from the rampant heat. Musical fountains that pour cool water streams according to the cheerful sounds of music played beautifies the summer nights. The Musical Fountain Show unfolds from April to October each year.
