Programs

Overview

The Changwon Sculpture Biennale 2020 "Community Programs" initiative features a variety of programs designed to play an active role in developing the creativity of participating citizens, instead of offering a uni-directional/passive audience experience.
In total, the Community Programs initiative has six programs spread across three main categories - the "Kid's Museum" programs, the "Teen" program, and the "Trouble Exchange" program. The programs will focus on the concept of "Non-sculpture," which is the main theme of this year's Biennale, and invite the public to play a more integral role in the Biennale. In doing so, ultimately, the Community Program initiative will help people understand and interact with the exhibition in a more active manner.
Most programs have eligibility requirements, and have a fixed schedule. However, programs with content and activities for all visitors (no age requirements) will be available on the weekends.

Spatial Arrangement

The Community Programs initiative will get under way in the "Special Exhibition Hall," an unused buffet hall at the basement (B1F) of the Seongsan Art Hall remodeled for the Biennale. Inside the Special Exhibition Hall, on the left-hand side, the Biennale has created two small exhibition spaces and a workshop for people participating in the programs. This area will host the "Fun with Family" project, which is a collaboration between "Maker Agit" (a Maker Education Center at the Changwon National University) and the Biennale, and programs offered as part of the "Hello, Come & Join Us!" Kid's Museum initiative. At the center, which has the distinct ambiance of a recycled and remodeled area, the Hall has an almost circular "green zone" with two "Worry Devices" for the "Trouble Exchange" community program. In addition, the green zone has the symbol for the "Trouble Exchange" on one of its walls. The open public space directly opposite to the Kid's Museum is a rest area for visitors, and an alternate venue for youth programs that are scheduled as outdoor events in case of any emergencies. Meanwhile, the "Hipster Project_Art & Me" youth program, prepared in collaboration with the "Changwon Youth-Artist Association," will infuse some energy into the program with program features added near the entrance leading to the square at the main gate for the Seongsan Art Hall, where some of the exquisite street art from the Main Exhibition is showcased.
