우리 창원은 문신과 김종영, 박종배, 박석원, 김영원 등 뛰어난 조각가들을 많이 배출한 조형예술의 본향입니다.

특히, 문신의 작품과 예술 혼이 고스란히 남아있는 문신미술관이 있으며, 향후 “김종영 조각공원”을 조성할 계획이 있는 곳이기도 합니다.
이러한 전통 속에서 오는 9월 22일부터 10월 23일까지 개최되는“2016 창원조각비엔날레”는 지역민의 삶 속에서 자연과 더불어 예술을 즐기고 감상할 수 있는 문화 환경을 제공할 것이며, 우리시가 문화예술특별시로 나아가는데 멋진 계기가 될 것입니다.

"2016 창원조각비엔날레"는 시민 모두가 함께하고 즐기는 열린 미술축제의 장입니다. 조각예술의 향연을 마음껏 누리시길 바랍니다.

Greetings of Steering Committee

Changwon is the hometown of leading artists in plastic arts, including well-known sculptors such as Moon Shin, Kim Chong Yong, Park Chong Bae, Park Suk Won and Kim Yong Won.

The city houses Moonshin Museum of Art where the world-renowned sculptor Moon Shin’s artworks and artistic spirit remain. Also, the city plans to create “Kim Chong Yong Sculpture Park” in the near future. Upholding such a long and deep artistic tradition, “2016 Changwon Sculpture Biennale” will be held from September 22 to October 23. The biennale will create the cultural environment where local residents can enjoy and appreciate the art in the nature during their daily lives. The biennale will also lay the foundation for Changwon to become a 'Culture and Art Special City’ in name and practice.

“2016 Changwon Sculpture Biennale” is an art festival which is wide open to all citizens so that they come together and enjoy. Please be our guest and enjoy outstanding sculptures.
